Explanation:
Grandpa's tree is a story about Erik, a disabled boy who fell while climbing a tree. His mother did not want to see the oak tree again, so she decided to cut it. She called the tree cutters even after Erik disagreed. Erik decided to climb the tree by hammering more pegs and he climbed it. He said to his mother that climbing the tree will help him strengthen his arms, which can help him with the wheelchair. His mother agreed and they both enjoyed the view happily.
Grandpa's Tree by Ruth Harrigan has been written beautifully.
- The story starts with a child named Erik looking at a tree and wondering how his grandfather planted the sapling years ago.
- He was thinking about his grandfather. Then his mother came and she said that the tree is getting down(getting cut). The child disagreed and he said that it is the only memory of his grandfather that he doesn't want to lose.
- His mother got aggressive while the child was climbing the tree, and he fell which made him disabled and paralyzed. He couldn't walk now and he was in a wheelchair. His mother did not want to see the tree as it was the reason her child got hurt and disabled.
- The child found an idea and he set the peg on the tree in such a way that he could climb on the tree with the help of his arms. Once he reached there. The tree-cutter came there.
- Erik's mother said him to come down as the tree cutting service has come. Then she asks them to get there equipments.
- Erik tries to explain his mother that it is the last memory of grandpa left with him. If he will climb the tree everyday, it can strengthen his arms which will help him with the wheelchair. His mother got convinced and she asked the tree cutters to go back.
- Her mother also climbed the tree after being hesitant. She also enjoyed the view with his son and they both got happy.
