Explanation:
'A Simple Philosophy' is written by Chief Seathl of the Suwarmish tribe of the State of Washington to the then US President Frankalin Piere in response to his proposal to buy their land. The letter is replete with sarcasm as he cannot understand the concept of owning the land by human beings. According to him, the whole earth is created by God and to Him only it belongs. He highlights this point by asking if we don't own the sparkle of water and freshness of the air, how can we buy them. He has cogently tried to make the US President very clear about the fact that the concept and ideologies of the white men, in accordance with their dealing with nature is merely fallacious, at least on the face of it. He finds white men neither thoughtful of their forefathers nor considerate to the need of their children as they would leave them a barren and waste land. Yet he agrees to sell their land only to secure the reservation the government has promised them. They have no other reason to sell their land.
