In this story we come across two characters a statue of a prince and a swallow bird. The prince when was alive was kept away from human sorrows though living a luxurious life away from all tough times. When he died his statue was made at the top column tower of the town . His statue was made up of fine gold feathers , eyes of two sapphires and his sword had a red precious ruby.He could witness all the sorrows but couldn't say a word just large drops of tears fell from his eyes . Once a swallow noticed the statue crying . When he asks the prince replies of the sorrows he witness since days . So he convinces the swallow to deliver all his preciouses to the people in pain . The bird followed the Happy Prince and the statue turned dull and grey. Just then the smow came and the swallow grew older but wasn't ready to leave the statue. As the swallow died a crack voice came from the statue which signifies the sadness of loss of the swallow . It was the lead heart of the prince. The statue had turned useless so all the town councils decided to melt the statue to obtain the lead but the heart didn' t melt. So it was thrown into the same dustbin where the died swallow was lying.
When God asked one of his angels to bring the precious things in the city . The angel brought the laden heart and the dead body of the swallow . God welcomed both of them in heaven paradise.
