In this poem , the poet describes his emotions for his closest friend . This poem is included in a set of poems of William Wordsworth , as the "Lucy poems" .
The poet was shattered by the death of his friend . He wanted to forget the reality that his loved one was no more . He tried to do so by lying down on his bed but was unable to do so . After the death of his loved one , he doesn't even care if he dies as well because his existence without Lucy , is already like a dead body . He has become even more turgid , and rough and tough and is challenging the almighty that if he can , he should take him away and make the two people unite again . He has no emotions , nor any fear and neither has he any desire to live . All he wants is to meet his dearest Lucy again . His life has lost its aim and he has lost interest in life . The thing that hurts the poet , the mpdt is that , now Lucy cannot express her love for him anymore and neither can he shower his love on her . She can no longer feel the pure love , and the time both of them had spent together . All these things had turned into dust .
