Robin Hood's Adventures Summary
Summary
In this classic story of good versus evil and the fight against injustice, there are many adventures of Robin Hood and his band of outlaws which bring laughter, suspense, and applause. Set in the time period when King Richard the Lion-Hearted is off fighting the Crusades, men act unjustly in the name of the Crown, as they ruthlessly seize properties and titles. Robin Hood's family suffers such injustice.
Those who meet Robin Hood in the forest, where he dwells as he flees the pursuit of the King's men, do not initially know that he is an earl of Huntingdon. After his father’s estates are unjustly seized and Robin Hood has a hunting encounter with the King's men, he must seek protection in the Sherwood Forest.
As he does so, he finds he is not alone and combines forces with other men who have lost their land as well. One of these men, Little John, is a faithful, strong companion to Robin Hood. As Robin Hood becomes the natural leader of this group of men, he leads them into a series of adventures in which they outsmart the infamous, evil Sheriff of Nottingham and seek justice for their families.
As Robin Hood encounters and consistently outwits the Sheriff of Nottingham, readers cannot help but cheer for Robin Hood’s victories and clever antics. At one point, Robin Hood even bests one of the Sheriff’s men, and that man joins Robin Hood’s band of merry men. Always a few steps ahead of the Sheriff and often in disguise, Robin Hood is victorious as he creatively challenges, tricks, and defeats the Sheriff and his men. Robin Hood becomes a champion of the people and a symbol of justice for all.
Robin Hood finds his own justice through a series of events after King Richard returns from the Crusades; the King pardons Robin Hood and restores Robin Hood as the rightful earl of Huntingdon. After years as an earl, Robin Hood returns to Sherwood Forest and his men, where he once again enters into conflict with the Sheriff and eventually dies in the arms of his friend, Little John.
