He had played two seasons for Toronto Marlboros. He was also given nickname 'Second Goalie' because of his fearless skills with which he was able to block the goals/shots.

Robert had also served in navy between 1942-1945.

After 1956 season, he retired from his profession of hockey and served as a Television analyst and broadcaster.
