Plants can be reproduced by sexual and asexual methods as well.
The ways in which plants can be reproduced are in the following -
1. Budding
- Budding is a mode of asexual reproduction in which an individual is formed from a small projection termed as bud.
- Budding occurs in both unicellular and multicellular organisms.
- Example - Yeast and hydra.
2. Fragmentation
- This mode of asexual reproduction occurs in multicellular organisms.
- The part of a parent splits into two or more small parts and each plant grows into a new organism.
- Example - Spirogyra
3. Vegetative propagation
- Vegetative propagation is a type of asexual reproduction in which new individual forms from the vegetative parts such as leaves, roots, stem, and buds of the parents.
- There are two types of vegetative propagation - Natural and Artificial.
- Example - Rose, potato, sugarcane, Dahila, etc.
