• Teflon -It was discovered by Roy J. Plunkett  in 1938.It was used as a commercial product in.Teflon is also called polytetrafluroethylene (PTFE). This  polymer has a repeating chains of $-(CF_{2} -CF_{2})-$ in it.

• Properties of Teflon are as follows:-

1. Teflon has a melting point of 327°C.Pure Teflon is chemically inert and highly insoluble in most solvents or chemicals.They are thermally stable to be used between -200 °C and +260 °C .
2. It has high flexural strength, even at low temperatures.It has high electrical resistance and dielectric strength.It is  resistant to water , and low coefficient of friction.Its density is  very high approx 2200 kg/m3.
3. It does not have a good resistance to high energy radiation and cause breakdown of the molecule.
