More Information

What are metals?

Metals are those substances that gain positive charge by losing electrons. Ex-Mercury, gold etc. They are malleable, ductile, sonorous, hard etc.

What are non-metals?

Non-metals are those substances that gain negative charge by gaining electrons. Ex-chlorine, phosphorus. They are non-malleable, non-ductile, non-sonorous and so on.

  • Malleability : The property of the metals by which metals can be hammered into thin sheets is called malleability.

  • Ductility : The property of the metals by which metals can be drawn into thin wires is called ductility.

  • Sonority : The property of the metals by which metals produce sound when we strike on them.
