Uses of Carbon
Carbon (in the form of coal, which is mainly carbon) is used as a fuel. Graphite is used for pencil tips, high temperature crucibles, dry cells, electrodes and as a lubricant. Diamonds are used in jewelry and – because they are so hard – in industry for cutting, drilling, grinding, and polishing.

Lodine is used to treat the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis by reducing inflammation, swelling, stiffness, and joint pain. Each tablet contains 600mg of the active ingredient etodolac. In this tablet, the medicine is released slowly which means that you only have to take one tablet each day.

Common uses of oxygen include production of steel, plastics and textiles, brazing, welding and cutting of steels and other metals, rocket propellant, oxygen therapy, and life support systems in aircraft, submarines, spaceflight and diving.

Uses of Phosphorus
Phosphorus is used in the manufacture of safety matches (red phosphorus), pyrotechnics and incendiary shells. Phosphorus is also used in steel manufacture and in the production of phosphor bronze. Phosphates are ingredients of some detergents.
