Solution:

⟹ While solving such fractions try to make the denominator same lcm ( lowest common multiple method) or else do cross multiplication method

Lowest Common Multiple Method:

We can make denominator same by lcm method. When we check in 9 and 3 multiplication table we see the lowest multiple is 9.

In 7/9, denominator is 9

In 1/3, denominator is 3

For 9 and 3 lowest common multiple(lcm) is 9

9 = 9 \times 1

3 = 3 \times 3

 \\  \frac{7 \times1 + 1 \times 3 }{9} \\  \\  =  \frac{7 +3 }{9}  \\  \\  =  \frac {10}{9}

Knowledge Booster :

While solving, fraction we have to keep lowest common multiple as common denominator and multiply the numerator with the number we get our lcm

⟹ For example: Take above question, the earlier denominator were 9 and 3, so when we got lcm as 9 we multiplied 1 and 3 with the respective numerator to make it perfect equation

⟹ Try to solve more such fraction type questions using lcm technique

⟹ We can also solve it by cross multiplication when we find it difficult to solve it by lcm

Cross multiplication is another method so try on it too

Another Method: Cross Multiplication

 \\  \\  \frac{7}{9}  +  \frac{1}{3} \\  \\  =  \frac{7 \times 3 + 1 \times 9}{9 \times 3}   \\  \\  = \frac{21 + 9}{27}  \\  \\

   \\  \\ =  \dfrac{30}{27}  \\  \\  =  \frac{10}{9}

Extra information :

⟹ Keep good hold on calculation while solving cross multiplication so you can score well
