Given Quadratic equation is

x² + 4x + alpha = 0 ,

compare above equation with

ax²+bx+c= 0, we get

a = 1 , b = 4 , c = alpha

discreminant ( D ) = 0

[ equal roots ]

4ac = b²

=> 4 × 1 × alpha = 4²

=> alpha = 4²/4

=> alpha = 4
