Answer:

for two linear equations in two variables to have a unique solution.,

a1/a2≠b1/b2

1/2≠k/-1

Let ax + by = 0 and cx + dy = 0 be a system of linear equations.

A system has unique solution when:

a/b ≠ c/d

Here

x + ky = 0 and 2x - y = 0

Here, a = 1, b = k and c = 2, d = - 1

Unique solution exists when

1/k ≠ 2/-1

2k ≠ -1

k ≠ -1/2

Unique solution exists for all values except k = -1/2

Hope I am correct.
