we know that... hypotenuse is the biggest side in a right angled triangle and also...
sin=opposite /hypotenuse..
cos =adjacent/hypotenuse..
so by our observation in bothe the cases we have greates side(hypotenuse)as denomination... so we have value less than 1 only.
