Working principle of DC Motor mainly depends upon Fleming Left Hand rule. In a basic DC motor, an armature is placed in between magnetic poles. If the armature winding is supplied by an external DC source, current starts flowing through the armature conductors. As the conductors are carrying current inside a magnetic field, they will experience a force which tends to rotate the armature.

Hi friend here is your answer

1)When a current is passed through the armature coil using the plug key or the switch in the circuit due to action of magnetic field the arm experience a force in upward direction and other side of arm in downward direction as per Fleming left hand rule these forces are same in magnitude and opposite in direction

2) As the coil rotates at one stage contact between the commutator and the brushes breaks hence the current supply of the coil is cut off but due to inertia it rotates and again comes in contact with brush

3) Now the current again starts flowing through the coil and the rotational motion is maintained

4) as this the armature coil continues rotating all the time and when the current is switched of the coil stops rotating after some time

Hope it helps you...........!!
