HEY!!

P(X) = X^2 - X - 4

X ^2 - 2X + 2 X - 4

X ( X - 2 ) + 2 ( X -2 ).

( X-2 ). ( X +2)

HENCE.

X = 2 & -2.

p(x) => x² - x - 4 = 0
             x² - 2x + 2x - 4 = 0                         (By splitting the middle term)
             x(x - 2) + 2(x - 2) = 0
             (x+2) (x-2) = 0

Hence,  x+2 = 0
                  x = -2
And,     x - 2 = 0
                   x = 2

So -2 and 2 are the zeros of  the given polynomial p(x).
