Explanation:

This theorem states that the moment of inertia of a planar body about an axis perpendicular to its plane is equal to the sum of its moments of inertia about two perpendicular axes concurrent with the perpendicular axis and lying in the plane of the body.

Answer:

Perpendicular axes theorem :

If I_x and I_y are the moment of inertia about two perpendicular axes of any body the moment of inertia I about third perpendicular axis is the sum of two moment of inertia.

i.e. I_z = I_x + I_y

Parallel axes theorem :

The moment of inertia I about an axis parallel to the axis through centre of mass C.M. is the sum of moment of inertia about C.M. and product of total mass M and square of perpendicular distance r between two axes concerned.

i.e. I_CD = I_AB + M r²  where AB║ CD
