 \frac{5}{12} \\</em></strong><strong><em> </em></strong><strong><em>=</em></strong><strong><em> </em></strong><strong><em>0</em></strong><strong><em>.</em></strong><strong><em>4</em></strong><strong><em>1</em></strong><strong><em>6</em></strong><strong><em>6</em></strong><strong><em>6</em></strong><strong><em>6</em></strong><strong><em>6</em></strong><strong><em>6</em></strong><strong><em>6</em></strong><strong><em>6</em></strong><strong><em>.</em></strong><strong><em>.</em></strong><strong><em>.</em></strong><strong><em>\</em></strong><strong><em>\</em></strong><strong><em> =   0.41 \bar{6}

Its simple just divide the value and you will find that the 6 in the quotient will repeat forever.

So, to represent it we use to put a bar on top after which the decimal number is starting to repeat.
