the Arabian sea branch of southwest Monsoon: 
*it progresses slowly compared to that of bay of Bengal branch.
*South-West monsoon winds are perpendicular to the direction of Western Ghats. Thus, they give heavy rainfall on the windward side of the Western Ghats. Central Peninsula lies on the leeward side of the Western Ghats. Thus, the Arabian Sea branch of South-West monsoon does not reach this region
*it is also responsible for the rainfall in western Himalayan regions.
