Three characteristics of the Peninsular river are-

  • Peninsular rivers are mainly dependent on rainfall. So, when it rains heavily, the water flow in the river is good. But, when the rainfall is not enough, the rivers get dry.
  • In most of the cases, these rivers originate from Western ghats and drain a large part of central and south India. But there are two exceptions, Narmada and Tapi.
  • The course of these rivers is normally fixed and without meanders.
  • Some examples of peninsular rivers are Godavari, Krishna, Cauvery, Narmada, Tapi, etc.
