The differences between acids and bases are as follows:
1. A pH scale measures from 0 to 14. The pH of acids is 0-7 and the pH of bases is from 7-14. The lower the value of pH the higher is the acidity of the substance. The higher the value of pH the higher is the basicity of the substance. The value of pH for a neutral substance is 7.
2. Acids are sour in taste while bases are bitter in taste.
3. Acids release hydrogen ions(H+) when dissolved in water. Bases release hydroxide ions(OH-) when dissolved in water.
