In oxidation, O2 is added while it is removed in reduction
In oxidation H2 is removed while it is added in reduction
In oxidation element looses electron while in reduction element gains electron
Eg:oxidation ___ 2cu+o2=2cuo
Reduction ____ 2na +h2=2nah

Hope it helps you dear.....

*Oxidation : oxidation is a chemical reaction that involves addition of oxygen or removal of hydrogen from a substance.
*For example : C. + O2 = CO2
Carbon + oxygen = carbon dioxide
When carbon reacts with oxygen to form carbon dioxide, it is said to be oxidized by gaining oxygen .

*An oxidizing agent is one that oxidizes other substances by providing oxygen to them or by removing hydrogen from them.
In the reaction mentioned above, oxygen is the oxidizing agent, as it supplies oxygen to carbon.

*Reduction : reduction is a chemical reaction that involves addition of hydrogen or removal of oxygen from a substance.
*For example : Cl2 + H ----->2HCL
Chlorine + hydrogen -----> hydrogen chloride
Chlorine reacts with hydrogen in the presence of diffused light to form hydrogen chloride. Chlorine is said to be reduced to hydrogen chloride by gain of hydrogen.

*A reducing agent is one that can reduce other substances by removing oxygen from them or by supplying hydrogen to them.
In the reaction between chlorine and hydrogen, hydrogen is the reducing agent as it supplies hydrogen to the chlorine.
