\huge\tt{Stamen:}

Stamens are the little stalks with swollen tops just inside the ring of petals in the flower and is the male reproductive organ of the plant and has two parts :

» Filament, the stalk of stamen

» Anther, swollen top of stamen

Further, stamen produces pollen grains. (Pollen grains appear to be yellow coloured powder like substances.)

It is actually the anther which makes the pollen grains and these pollen grains contain the male sex cells.

Pollen grains, from stamen, are transferred to carpel via self pollination or cross pollination. The process of transferring of pollen grains from stamen to carpel is called pollination.

Fertilisation occurs when the male sex cell present in the pollen grains joins the female sex cell and fuses to form zygote, a fertilized cell.

The zygote divides many times to form embryo within ovule (part of the female reproductive organ - carpel - of a plant) and this embryo gradually grows and is converted into seeds.

And last but not the least, the ovary of flower develops to become a fruit with seeds inside it. These seeds germinate to form a new plant.
