The main function of the nasal cavity is to moderate the temperature of the inhaled air.

• The nasal mucous membrane moistens the air as it passes through.

• The nasal mucous membrane and hairs trap the dust and other particulate matter and cilia transfer the trapped particles to the pharynx from where it passes to bronchii and then the lungs.
