Rules for writing chemical formula are
1)The valances or charges on the ion must be balanced
2)When a compound consists of a metal and a non metal ,the name or symbol of the metal is written first
ex . calcium oxide ( CaO )
3)In compound formed with polyatomic ions . The ions are enclosed in a bracket before writing the number to indicate the ratio . However in case the number of polyatomic ions in one , the bracket is not required
