Subject Chaotic Traffic Jams
Sir
I am pained to bring to your notice the chaotic condition of the city on account of severe traffic jams which have become too frequent these days causing unimaginable harassment to the people in general and daily commuters in particular. We know that the number of vehicles on the roads is on rise and that there is no proportional increase in the number of roads. So, traffic jams are bound to happen.
However, it stretches one’s tolerance to the ultimate limit when a difficult situation is aggravated due to the irresponsible behaviour of a few rogue drivers. The buses and autos show an appalling disregard for any kind of traffic law. Buses stopping here and there, autos, coming and going through and into every corner and side of the traffic imaginable, drivers getting into an ugly argument on the middle of the road etc, cause havoc for the daily commuters.
Frequent processions, demonstrations by employees and workers and nagar kirtans add to the already chaotic conditions. Then there are encroachments and vendors all along the road. The marriage season makes the situation even worse.
The solution lies in being responsible. Traffic rules must be dealt with promptly and strictly. More of public transport should be used, car pools should be encouraged. During peak hours, efforts should be made by avoiding travelling. Teenagers should not be issued driving licence. The authorities should be strict in removing encroachments and vendors.
I do hope, you will be kind enough to take necessary and stringent remedial steps to arrest the chaotic traffic jams in the city before long.
Yours sincerely
Aashutosh Sharma
