Well,different approaches and ways are there for assessing the listening skill of student in english
1)Teacher should ask question in middle of the class or after regular interval to the students abut what they listen and hear. This would also help in keep their focus on study
2)Memory games can played like the teachers divide the class in to two groups and read the material of book with some wrong word inclusion and then ask the student to find the mistake . The team which identify the mistake first will get the point.

Dictation is one of the best methods. The teacher can play a small game. Dual Dictation. Students can be divided into two groups. Group A can be asked to dictate a word and group B can be asked to write it down.
Similarly Memory games can also be conducted. Students can be divided in groups, called out some words and then be asked to recall those words. The group recalling the maximum words can be declared the winner.
