TWO CONDITIONS ARE:

1)If BOND ORDER is fractional then the element is paramagnetic  and if it is a whole number then dimagnetic.

2)If in the electronic configuration  unpaired electron is present then the element is paramagnetic otherwise dimagnetic.

Paramagnetic susceptibility is positive nd small diamagnetic susceptibility is small nd negative . Paramagnetic follow Curie law diamagnetic don't follow Curie law.
