Answer:

a) Mass is the measure of the amount of matter in a body. Mass is denoted using m or M.

Weight is the measure of the amount of force acting on a mass due to the acceleration due to gravity.

Weight usually is denoted by W. Weight is mass multiplied by the acceleration of gravity.

W=m∗g

b) As we know that the weight of the person on the the surface of planet is product of mass and gravity on the surface of planet

So here we will have

1) On surface of Earth

F = mgF=mg

F = 10 (9.81 m/s^2)F=10(9.81m/s

2

)

F = 98 NF=98N

2) On surface of moon

the acceleration due to gravity on surface of moon is 1/6 times the gravity on the Earth

So we have

F = m\frac{g}{6}F=m

6

g

F = 10 (\frac{9.81 m/s^2}{6})F=10(

6

9.81m/s

2

)

F = 16.33 NF=16.33N
