1. Biodegradable materials are those which can be degraded by natural processes into some usable forms. Example- Human and animal excreta, Plant products like rubber, paper, wood, leaves, cotton, and wool, Dead remains of living organisms, Kitchen waste, Agricultural waste.

2. Examples of non-biodegradable materials include fibres, shoes, metals, hazardous substances, pesticides, consumer items such as plastic bags, shopping bags, plastic containers and plastic water bottles. Therefore polyethene is an example of non-biodegradable waste.

3. Compound words are formed when two or more words are joined together to create a new word that has an entirely new meaning. For example, “sun” and “flower” are two different words, but when fused together, they form another word, Sunflower. Consider the words “make up” and “makeup”.

4. Paper: office paper, magazines, newspapers and junk mail, Cardboard.
