Gifts of nature are fruits and nuts growing on trees, sunlight, rain, fresh flowing water, clean air, the sound of birds singing, beautiful vistas overlooking landscapes, the diversity of life on this planet, colorful sunsets, rainbows, life and death, freedom, all principles that belong to nature and her cycles.

Humans should be the stewards of nature, but sadly we are destroying her with our actions that pollute and damage her. We are also causing man-made global warming. Earth’s processes are our life-support system. We depend on them for our survival. It’s our urgent responsibility to respect, protect (conserve) and restore nature, which not only belong to us, but to all lifeforms on Earth, present AND future.

We should work to minimize the disruption of nature when we use any of Earth’s natural resources, which are finite (meaning they are NOT limitless or infinite). By using generally as few resources as possible, we can save some for future generations. Also other lifeforms on Earth that aren’t human deserve clean water, food, land, and air too.

By using renewable resources (solar & wind for energy and other natural materials for building and making things) we can harness what Earth has already given us freely (a true gift) instead of trashing and damaging the environment with drilling, mining, plastics etc (which do irreparable damage to ecosystems and in return, us).

By using readily available materials in nature for our use that are natural (wood, plants, locally collected water, recycling nutrients through composting, home-grown food, etc) we are living closer to Earth. These are things that are sourced ecologically. We can design our lives and our societies to live in harmony with Earth and her principles (check out what is). We can give back by planting trees and plants, taking care of how we live, our ecosystems and the animals that provide us what we need. This is going “back to nature.”
