Huygen’s Principle states that each and every point on a wavefront serves as a source of wavelets which then spread forward at the same speed. The new wavefront is in a line tangent to all of the wavelets.

It is a consequence of the homogeneity of space (the space is said to be uniform in all the locations).
It was noticed by Jacques Hadmard in 1900, that Huygen’s principle could not be applied when the number of spatial dimensions was equal.

HUYGENS's principle states that light travelled in wave form, and each wavefront creates secondary wavelets having same direction as before. Each point on a wavelet acts as a source of secondary wavelets to generate.
◆FAULTS OF HUYGENS THEORY.
◆Huygens failed in explaining polarisation of light , photoelectric effect , Compton effect etc.
PHOTOELECTRIC EFFECT is due to PARTICLE nature of light .
◆Huygens even failed in explaining the RECTILINEAR PROPAGATION of light.
