The foremost function of the ovaries is to produce ova(eggs). They also produce hormones estrogen and progesterone which are responsible for female characeristics.

The fallopian tube is the site of fertilisation of the egg. It is also the connecting duct between the ovaries and the uterus and provides a passage for the zygote into the uterus.
