Answer:

Observations are that a decrepitating sound (crackling sound) is heard and that a gas with reddish brown fumes escapes.

This is a thermal decomposition reaction.

(a) (i) Lead nitrate is turns yellow due to formation of lead monoxide.

(ii) Brown fumes of nitrogen dioxide gas are evolved.

(b) Here, One compound lead nitrate is break down in three compounds lead monoxide, nitrogen dioxide and oxygen. So, This is decomposition reaction. And here, lead nitrate is heated. So, This is Thermal decomposition reaction.

(c) Chemical equation :

\sf 2Pb(NO_{3})_{2} \: (s) \underset{(Decomposition)}{\xrightarrow{Heat}} \: 2PbO \: (s) + 4NO_{2} \: (g) + O_{2} \: (g)

About decomposition reaction!!

Decomposition reaction are those reaction in which a compound splits into two or more simpler substances by reacting.

About Thermal decomposition reaction!!

Thermal decomposition reaction is decomposition reaction which carried out by heating.
