As the matchbox looking bus ambled along the dusty road to the village fair, I spent two hours observing the bus and it's passengers. It was a musical journey, to say the least. The windows rattled, a mother sang to her child, while people chatted. Most of them were villagers, who already knew each other. I was among the handful of strangers, who were on their way to the inter-village cricket match. A middle-aged lady offered me some peanuts and enquired whether I knew my way to the cricket ground. I gratefully accepted her offer of having some youngsters guiding me there.

The bus seemed to empty out near a couple of tea stalls. A well-trodden path and the cheerful boys took me to the ground. The innings was about to begin. The batsmen and the fielders were in place, on the uneven ground. Each over saw a different bowler come charging with the rubber ball. The batsmen often sent the ball scurrying to the excited crowd. The enthusiasm of the crowd was electrifying. We cheered at each boundary and each wicket. By evening, our voices were hoarse and heads hurting. The two hour drive back to town was a lot quieter than the onward journey. This time, my tired bones seemed to rattle with the windows too,  but I was happy. I had an extremely gratifying day!
