Two points lying on the x-axis and are equidistant from the origin, for example, are (1, 0) and (-1, 0).

Given,

Two points on the x-axis,

the two points are equidistant from origin.

To find,

Write such points.

Solution,

We can see here that, we are required to write two such points which are equidistant from the origin and lie on the x-axis.

Firstly, as we know that the points which are equidistant from the origin are such that they are the same or equal in magnitude but opposite in direction. It means they have opposite signs.

Further, the points which are on the x-axis have their y-coordinate equal to 0.

Thus, two such points will be of the form (a, 0) and (-a, 0).

So, few examples of two points lying on the x-axis, and equidistant from the origin are

  1. (1, 0) and (-1, 0),
  2. (5, 0) and (-5, 0),
  3. (2, 0) and (-2, 0),
  4. (100, 0) and (-100, 0), etc.

There could be an infinite number of such points.

Therefore, two points lying on the x-axis and are equidistant from the origin, for example, are (1, 0) and (-1, 0).
