Adsorption may be Negative or Positive depending upon the concentration of adsorbates. When the concentration of adsorbated is more on the surface as compared to its concentration in the bulk phase, the adsorption is known as Positive adsorption . However, if the concentration of the adsorbate is less than its concentration in the bulk, then adsorption is known as Negative adsorption.
