the village people were happy with the kill of the tiger because of the reward Mrs Packletide offered. They beated drums and celebrated to the success of mrs Packletide.Even though they knew Mrs Packletide didn't kill the beast, they ignored the fact in ypthe fear of losing the reward.
The tiger was an old one who usually hunted lonely preys which were staying still. It was very old that it died of a heart attack due to the loud report of the rifle.
