Both are liquid. Both will pass from filter without solution.
You can see through a solution, as the ions of the solute are dissolved. A colloid is a suspension of insoluble ultra micriscopic particles or large molecules in water or other liquid, kept in suspension by Brownian motion.

Just like a solution, a colloid is homogeneous mixture. Also the particles of a colloid are invisible to the eye and can pass a filter without any residue, just like those of a solution.
