Two solution of the equation X + Y = 5 are

  • X = 0 , Y = 5

  • X = 1 , Y = 4

Given :

The equation X + Y = 5

To find :

Two solution of the equation X + Y = 5

Solution :

Step 1 of 2 :

Write down the given equation

The given equation is X + Y = 5

This is a linear equation in two variables

So this equation represents the equation of a line

Any point on the line is a solution of the equation

Step 2 of 2 :

Find two solution of the equation

The given equation is

X + Y = 5

⇒ Y = 5 - X - - - - (1)

Putting X = 0 in Equation 1 we get Y = 5 - 0 = 5

So one solution is X = 0 , Y = 5

Putting X = 1 in Equation 1 we get Y = 5 - 1 = 4

So another solution is X = 1 , Y = 4

Hence two solution of the equation X + Y = 5 are

X = 0 , Y = 5

X = 1 , Y = 4
