Sinhalese are majority of srilankans according to the legend of origin the north indians/indo aryans who settled here in srilanka in early ages. Genetic distance wise closest group to sinhalese are bengali people of eastern india. According to molecular anthropology 72% of our genetics are from bengalis 12% from Gujarati 15% from tamils of south india. Thus we should have some physical resemblance to bengalis .
