kuls are the diversion channels that carry water from a glacier to a village . often spanning long distances , with some over 10 km long . kuls have been around for centuries. They are the lifeline of the people of spiti valley of Himachal Pradesh and in Jammu too .

Bambbo Drip irrigation system=

The system of water conservation and usage of water stream and spring water is done using bambbo pipes . Practicsed in Meghalaya and its primary purpose is to irrigate plantations . This 200 year old system involes 18-20 litres of water entering the bamboo pipe system every minute to irrigate the fields downhill .
