write two ways to store mag

Not only to store them, but also for their use and cleaning, magnets must be protected mainly from four types of factors that favor demagnetization and even destruction:
(1) Mechanical protection. They should not be hit. Even if blows are not strong enough to break them, they are very effective to reduce the magnet’s magnetization. This is more pronounced when magnets are at a higher temperature (as, for example, in the industries where some magnets are washed with jets of water vapor).
(2) Magnetic protection. To avoid self demagnetization, it is convenient to leave them "closing magnetic ci...

Trevor Nielsen, I own an extensive collection of strong magnets
Answered Mar 27, 2017
I have about 35 neodymium magnets in various sizes. The small ones I keep attached to a piece of steel that sits next to my desk. This isn’t really a permanent place for them, but until I build a case for them it is their home, as they are too small to affect anything further than a few inches away. I have an old briefcase, and I plan to fill it with polyethylene foam and cut out slots for the magnets to slide into the foam.
The larger magnets I store in styrofoam, bubble wrap, and cardboard. I have about 2–3 inches of styrofoam around one in a cardboard box. 2–3 inches is enough to ensure that anything outside of that boundary feels a negligible amount of attraction, at least for the magnet sizes I own. If I were to buy more powerful magnets (think in excess of 300 lbf at the surface), I would build a wooden box at least 2 inches thick with a nonferrous lock/latch and shield the outside in iron sheets (the iron provides a easy path for the magnetic field to travel through, essentially directing the field through it and causing the field outside the iron to drop to an insignificant level
