  • valency of sulphate is 2 because sulphate can bond with 2 positive hydrogen atoms its valency is the opposite charge and often expressed as -2 formulae of Sulphate is SO₄²-
  • Nitrate ion has one nitrogen and 3 oxygen molecules oxygen lies in group 16 and thus have the valency of -2 nitrogen lies in group 15 and has the charge of +5 forming the bond with 3 oxygen atoms so the valency of Nitrate is -1 formulae of Nitrate is NO3-
  • zincate anion has valency of 2 but the aluminate anion has valency of 1 we get the formulae by criss crossing the valencies that is 2 formulae of zincate is H4Na2O4Zn
  • the formulae of ammonia is NH4 and valency is 1
  • phosphate valency is 3 and formulae is PO₄³⁻
