Crops are plants of the same typewhich are grown and cultivated on a large scale.

Agriculture is a practice of cultivating crops in a systematic manner.

The two crops pattern are :

• Kharif : These crops are grown during rainy season i.e. Sown in June and Harvested during September. Ex: Paddy, Groundnut etc.
• Rabi : These crops are grown in winter season i.e. Sown in October and Harvested in March. Ex: Wheat, Gram, Mustard etc.

The basic agricultural practices are :

1. Preparation of Soil
2. Sowing
3. Adding Manures and Fertilizers
4. Irrigation
5. Protection from weeds
6. Harvested
7. Storage

• Preparation of soil is the first step where the is lossened by Ploughing. Ploughing is the lossening and turning of soil using a plough. The Advantages :

1. Roots of plants penitrate easily into the soil.
2. helps the roots of plants and breadth easily.
3. enrich the soil with nutrient.
4. help in removing weeds
5. promotes the growth of microbes and earthworm.

• Leveling help to break the crumbs, helps in proper irrigation and prevent soil erosion.
