- Rashsundari Devi was born in Eastern Bengal and was the first Indian woman to write an autobiography and the first Bengali to write an autobiography.[citation needed] Aamar Jiban (My Life), her autobiography, was published in 1876.[2]Pandita Ramabai Sarasvati (23 April 1858 – 5 April 1922), was a women's rights & education activist, a pioneer in the education and emancipation of women in India, and a social reformer. She was the first woman to be awarded the titles of Pandita as a Sanskrit scholar and Sarasvati after being examined by the faculty of the University of Calcutta.[1] She was one of the ten women delegates of the Congress session of 1889.[2][3] In the late 1890s, she founded Mukti Mission at Kedgaon village, forty miles east of the city of Pune.[4][5] The mission was later named Pandita Ramabai Mukti Mission.Rokeya Sakhawat Hossain (Bengali: রোকেয়া সাখাওয়াত হোসেন; 9 December 1880. – 9 December 1932), commonly known as Begum Rokeya, was a Bengali feminist thinker, writer, educator and political activist from British India (present day Bangladesh). She is widely regarded as a pioneer of women's liberation in South Asia.
