Answer ⇒ True.  Ethanol is one of the alternative fuels for fossil fuels.

Explanation ⇒ Ethanol whose Chemical formula is the C₂H₅OH and common name is Ethyl Alcohol is a emerging alternative non-renewable fuels for Fossils Fuels.

It is combustible and reacts with the Oxygen to form Carbon dioxide and Water since it is the Hydrocarbon. Also, As the basis of Hydrocarbon, the process of the Combustion is completed by the Evolution of large amount of the Energy, thus it is the Exothermic Process.

The Heat evolved is used for the Turning of the Turbine to generate the Electricity and also for Other Purposes as a Fuels.

Hope it helps .

Golda: Tiwaavi sir, ethanol is not hydrocarbon and it a renewable energy source. It is manufactured from any starch-containing crop like sugarcane or corn. Your answer is wrong.

Solution :-

It is true that ethanol is one of the alternative fuel for fossil fuels.

Ethanol is an alternative fuel to petroleum fuels that can be produced by fermenting and distilling almost any starch-containing crop. It is a clear colorless liquid that is chemically identical to the alcohol found in intoxicating beverages. Ethanol is fairly easy to manufacture from common crops like corn  or sugarcane. Ethanol is a renewable fuel source that produces fewer greenhouse emissions than fossil fuels. But, there are some drawbacks of ethanol. Ethanol does not have the same energy density as gasoline (petrol). Because of this, the transportation of ethanol is relatively more expensive than gasoline transportation. Ethanol is highly corrosive and absorbs water. As a result, engines and gasoline pipelines have to be specifically built or modified to handle ethanol.
