A pond is a water body smaller than the lake. Ponds help human in their day to day life. Also, animals can quench their thirst for ponds. Ponds come up naturally due to a nearby stream or artificially created by humans. The natural ponds are known as vernal pools & prairie potholes.  

There are several types of water ponds created by humans according to requirements such as water gardens for an aesthetic look, fish ponds, solar ponds and wastewater treatment ponds.  

Ponds consist of stagnant water which supports aquatic habitants widely. Ponds are useful source water for cattle’s too. Ponds play a very vital role in balancing the ecosystem.

A pond is a small water body. It is not kind of river because river is big but pond is small within small area. The pond's water cannot move so it's not like a river. It is smaller than river.

Ponds are created by naturally or some ponds are created by rainfall. We can see many ponds basically in villages. There ponds are used for household works and villages's businesses.
