GiveN :-

  • To write the equation when magnesium burns in air .

SolutioN :-

When Magnesium is subjected to burning then it reacts with oxygen present in the air to form Magnesium oxide . The magnesium burns with a dazzling white flame .

The word equation will be :-

\boxed{\pink{\sf Magnesium + Oxygen \to Magnesium\ oxide }}

The chemical equation will be :-

\boxed{\pink{\sf Mg + O_2 \to MgO }}

When we see at the equation we see that the equation is not balanced . The number of Oxygen in the LHS side is two but there is only one oxygen atom present in the RHS . So lets balance out the equation .

Step 1: Multiplying 2 to MgO on RHS :-

\sf:\implies \gray{ Mg + O_2 \to \pink{2}MgO }

Step 2: Multiplying 2 to Mg on LHS :-

\sf:\implies \gray{ \pink{2}Mg + O_2 \to \pink{2}MgO }

Hence we balanced out the equation !
