in the terms of civics fir is the first information report or first investigation report. when the person asserts a crime wictem of the crime wants justice and he she can go to near by police station and have to give all the information about crime this information is fir and fir must be in written form

FIR is known as first information report. after registration of fir police can begin with investigation into a crime. the law state that it is compulsory for an officer  in charge  of police station to register FIR.
